Clergy gather in Balaton
By: Jo Obias

The first parish church outside the City of Naga and within the Archdiocese of Caceres to be consecrated for divine worship and to be dedicated to Our Lady of Peñafrancia is in barangay Balaton in Lagonoy town on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 9:30 in the morning. Immediately after the rites, the Caceres clergy will hold therein their assembly for the month.

The town and barangays of Lagonoy are known for being the center of Aglipayanism in the region.

In keeping with the tradition that the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia is intimately linked to that of the Divino Rostro, the Canonical Erection of the first Divino Rostro Parish in the Archdiocese has been set in Bahi, Garchitorena, Camarines Sur on April 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. A group of priests will attend the said event. They will assemble at the Archbishop’s Palace and will leave for Bahi at 8:00 in the morning of April 26. After the canonical erection and the Installation of Rev. Fr. Marlon B. Tebelin as the first Parish Priest with Rev. Msgr. Rodel M. Cajot, P.C., V.G. as the installing presider, the priests will stay overnight in Bahi and will proceed to Balaton the following day for the clergy general assembly.

This, the instruction relayed to all priests and deacons in the Archdiocese, through chancery Bulletin No. 007 signed April 1, 2010 by Rev. Fr. Allan Roy E. Remo, the Chancellor.

The clergy and deacons shall leave for Tamban Parish from the patio of the Metropolitan Cathedral at 5:30 in the morning of April 27. From Tamban Port, they will board a boat and are expected to arrive at Balaton at 9:00 in the morning. Right away the consecration and dedication of the Parish Church will follow.

The clergy general assembly is set from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. after an early lunch. Departure from Balaton to Tamban is at 2:30 and the estimated time of arrival at Tamban Port is 4:00 p.m. By 5:30 in the afternoon, the clergy are expected to be in the City of Naga.

In the general assembly, Fr. Alex Quimpol, the parish priest of the newly consecrated church will welcome the clergy. This will be followed by usual reading of the minutes of the previous assembly and observations. The Curia Reports will be given by the Chancellor and the finances by Fr. Domingo Florida.

Other reports include that of the Parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Caramoan, Camarines Sur by Fr. Rodolfo Sales, that of the Ministry of Education cluster by Fr. William Parde and that on Tercentenary Updates by Fr. Andrew Recepcion. Most Rev. Leonardo Z. Legaspi, O.P., D.D. will update the clergy with other informations and with some announcements.
